Fishing in Our Territory

The valley of Lake Duhamel, stretching 10 km, offers an unparalleled backdrop for your fishing stay. Our territory features about twenty lakes and two major rivers, the Grande Manouane and Petite Manouane, which are considered significant natural spawning grounds by MRNF biologists. Some lakes for brook trout are accessible via hiking trails, approximately a 20-minute walk from the main road, while others require the use of an ATV or vehicle to reach. Rowboats, motors, fuel, and life jackets are included.

BROOK TROUT

Present in lakes, streams, and rivers, the brook trout loves fresh, clear waters. It particularly enjoys the shade, so anglers can often find it near branches or logs.

WALLEY

Highly adaptable to its habitat, the walleye is found in large quantities in several bodies of water. It can reach lengths of up to 50 cm and weigh up to 1.5 kg, biting on various types of bait and feeding very actively, making it a common catch.

PIKE

With its elongated body, which can measure up to 75 cm and weigh between 1 and 2 kg, the northern pike is an impressive fish. Fishermen, beware of your lines, as this fish has very sharp teeth.

CISCO

The cisco inhabits the province with a preference for northern waterways, lakes, and oligotrophic bodies of water that are deep, where bright light is reduced and water temperatures remain cold.

OUANANICHE

The ouananiche is the landlocked form of the Atlantic salmon; it remains in lakes, while the Atlantic salmon migrates to the sea for part of its life cycle. Aside from this difference, the ouananiche and Atlantic salmon are the same species.
